- Version 1.06 of Qmodem
-
- Here's the scoop to the new Qmodem!
-
- This is very important! Qmodem 1.06 uses a different and
- expanded QMODEM.CNF format. To run Qmodem under the new format,
- you MUST run RECONFIG.COM on your old QMODEM.CNF. The other
- choice is to delete the QMODEM.CNF and start all over. Why the
- change? This way, when I change Qmodem from now on, no more
- deleting invalid CNF files and making new ones!
-
- The bug with the Alt-D (dial prompt) has been fixed and
- extended a bit. Now, you can press the Esc key anywhere in the
- dialing string to abort. Also, the bug where you could not
- backspace over the first character is fixed.
-
- A new feature has been added! Screen Dumps! To use, press
- Alt-T and the current screen will be dumped to the disk. This
- command has not been added to the Home key menu yet.
-
- Another nice change has been added to the Upload. Now you
- can send READ-ONLY files with Qmodem. Before, Turbo would not
- let you find a READ-ONLY file for uploading, but showed it in the
- Alt-W Directory command.
-
- The Download Xmodem has been expanded as well. Now there is
- a 16K buffer so Qmodem will only write to the disk every 128
- blocks. Nice addition for all of you who still have floppy
- drives.
-
- I guess the first thing you will notice about Qmodem is that
- there are new window routines! Check them out and let me know
- what you think.
-
- Oh yes, almost forgot! When starting Qmodem, you can add
- the optional command line argument 'AUTO' and Qmodem will then
- look at the messages returned by your modem to see if a CONNECT
- speed is present. Say your modem returns CONNECT 1200 when you
- dialed the BBS at 2400, Qmodem will set the baud rate to 1200 for
- you and save the trip to Alt-P. It can sense 300, 1200, 2400,
- 4800, and 9600. (Always ready for the future!) To make this
- feature active, enter at the command line:
- [example] C>qmodem auto<cr> or C>qmodem AUTO<cr>
- The word 'auto' MUST be in all upper or lower case. 'AuTo' will
- not do it.
-
- As always, if you do find a bug that I have missed (god
- forbid), please give my BBS a call at the number in the program
- and describe it to me.
-
- Thanks for all of the support I have received.
